7 Best 7-Seater EVs of 2024

 Published 13th March 2024
Electric Vehicles  Vehicle Reviews

As the world innovates to find more sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives to most things, the motor vehicle is going in one direction only, electric. In 2035, it will no longer be legal for any manufacturer to produce ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) vehicles, and everything will be battery-operated. It is likely, that over the next few years, we will still see releases of petrol and diesel-fuelled vehicles as companies clear their stock of engines and parts, but after that, it will be all electric, from the tiny, city runaround to the spacious people carrier.

At Gateway2lease, we provide access to the latest 7-seater, from all the top brands and with flexible leasing options available, ensuring we have the perfect car for the whole family. If you are looking for a new EV people carrier, and are open to suggestions, in this article we will showcase 7 of the best 7-seater EVs in the UK for 2024.

VW ID Buzz

1. VW ID Buzz

The 7-seater EV for families that like the perfect mix of function and timeless cool, the VW ID Buzz is the modern EV equivalent of the classic VW Camper, and it retains a lot of its iconic appearance – just revamped. It is powered by a 150kW battery, handily housed in the rear, which gives the ID Buzz a driving range of 258 miles between charges, a top speed of 90 mph and it can achieve 0-62mph in 10.2 seconds.

Mercedes EQV MPV

2. Mercedes EQV MPV

Staying in Germany, the next 7-seater EV on our list is the Mercedes EQV MPV . This is the electric version of the V-Class MPV which has been around since 2014 and we should expect to see electric versions of popular models popping up over the next few years from every top brand. What makes the Mercedes EQV MPV stand out more than others on the market is the space. You can even configure the seating arrangement to make it an 8-seater without being cramped. It is powered by a 90kWh battery which can charge up to 80% in 45 minutes on rapid charging and has a range of 213 miles between charges. It has a top speed of 99mph and can complete 0-62mph in 12 seconds.

It comes with the Mercedes-Benz User Experience MBUX multimedia system that can individually extend to all eight people for smartphone integration.

Peugeot e-Rifter

3. Peugeot e-Rifter

Travelling south-east, we come to France and the Peugeot e-Rifter. They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder and, though the e-Rifter may be an acquired taste, it makes up for that in affordability. At just over £30,000 on the road, it is one of the lowest-priced 7-seater EVs on the market and is available to lease on flexible terms. Inside, it houses lots of space for passengers and cargo alike, making it perfect for transporting the family all around town. This is very much a town car as the official range from one charge is only 172 miles, so not ideal for longer journeys, but perfect as a car for a larger family with a busy lifestyle. It can achieve 0-62mph in 11.2 seconds, so faster than the Mercedes EQV MPV, and has a top speed of 83mph.

The Peugeot e-Rifter isn’t designed to go the furthest, go the fastest or catch people’s eyes, it is designed to be the cost-effective family choice for city living. Anyway, who wants to be sexy when you can be economical and functional?

Citroen e-SpaceTourer

4. Citroen e-SpaceTourer

The second offering from the home of the Eiffel Tower is the Citroen e-Spacetourer, which goes one step further than all the other models in this list by offering a total of nine seats. Yes, nine! But you don’t have to have nine seats. If you would prefer a little more space for luggage or simple stretching out, then some of the chairs can be removed with ease to accommodate this. The Citroen e-Spacetourer comes with a 134bhp electric motor and 75kWh battery that can achieve a range of 217 miles per single charge. If this seems a little low to you, don’t worry as it comes with rapid charging capabilities, and you can recharge to 80% in about half an hour.

You are not leasing the Citroen e-Spacetourer for its performance though, so these figures aren’t important. You are leasing this car for the practical function it offers and the benefits to your daily life it provides… all at an affordable price.

Vauxhall Combo Life Electric

5. Vauxhall Combo Life Electric

In the words of a famous TV character, “During the war, Vauxhall made lots of tanks for the Allied effort”, but don’t worry, they didn’t use these designs when producing the Combo Life Electric. In fact, it is one of the more sleek-looking 7-seater EVs around, with curved features and contoured panels. More than just a pretty face, the Vauxhall Combo Life Electric can also perform reasonably well for its class, achieving a WLTP range figure of 174 miles from a single charge.

Kia EV9

6. Kia EV9

If you are looking for a 7-seater EV with a bit more poke, that can last a lot longer, then the Kia EV9 is the ideal car for you. When it comes to looks, this is a people carrier that grabs the attention. Jaws will drop as you cruise by, transporting the whole family and next door’s kid.

It is uber modern, it is uber stylish and it screams high-end. Performance wise, it really grabs the playing field by the proverbials and kicks them out of the park. The Kia EV9 is the only 7-seater EV in our list to achieve 0-62mph in a sub-five-second time and has a top speed of 124mph. Not that you are likely to ever get anywhere near that speed, but there is a warm reassurance in knowing you could. Fancy a long journey or a tour of Blighty? The Kia EV9 is fully charged and ready to go and you won’t need to worry about recharging for a massive 349 miles, and when you do, you can get to 80% in only 24 minutes.

The Kia EV9 is the car that gives you the most precious gift… time.

Maxus Mifa 9

7. Maxus Mifa 9

Maxus may not be a brand you are familiar with yet, but you soon will be. The Chinese automotive company originates from the acquisition of the now-defunct British company LDV (Leyland DAF Vans), and the name Maxus comes from the old model LDV Maxus van. The Maxus Mifa 9 is a 7-seater EV that is designed more for the passenger than the driver. Yes, it has lots of driver assist technology and features to improve the experience, and it can achieve an impressive range of 323 miles from a single charge, 0-62mph in 9.2 seconds and a top speed of 112mph, but passenger comfort in the Maxus Mifa 9 is unrivalled, and that simply comes down to the seats.

The main passenger seats are a sight to behold, looking as though they have come straight out of business class or a private jet. They are fully automatic with an additional footrest that rises and extends in the ample legroom available and a personal table that protrudes from the arm. The seats are perfectly contoured to provide optimal comfort and all adjustments are made via the touchscreen controller in the arm.
