General Guides  New Launches

The Renault Megane Hatchback range is slimming down in September. Out go all petrol and diesel models to be replaced by plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models only.

Which will be good news for business users: the new Renault Megane will provide a benefit in kind rate of 11 per cent and the car will be zero-rated for VED for the first year.

Both Iconic E-Tech and R.S. Line versions will be powered by a 1.6-litre petrol engine working with a 65hp (49kW) electric motor and auto transmission. Fuel economy officially is 235.4mpg (but you would have to do plenty of plugging in to reach that figure) and CO2 emissions of only 28g/km. More importantly, In pure electric mode it can cover up to 30 miles on a single charge, with its battery able to be charged from zero to 100 per cent in as little as three hours. So the car is eminently suitable for most commutes to the office.

Standard equipment includes cruise control with speed limiter, 10-inch TFT driver's display, Eco Mode, EV mode, and eight ambient lighting colours as well as a hands free key card. In addition, safety equipment includes front and rear parking sensors, Hill Start Assist, and the Visio system that includes lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition and automatic headlamp dipping.

Renault Megane E-Tech Hatchback

Iconic E-Tech equipment includes 16-inch alloys, leather steering wheel, EASYLINK navigation system, two USB ports, Bluetooth connectivity, smartphone integration, with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

R.S.Line models gain an Advanced Emergency Braking System, rear parking camera and hands-free parking and a larger navigation screen.

Other options include a Safety Pack (adaptive cruise control, Lane Keeping Assistance, and E-Call), Motorway Pack (including Traffic Jam Companion - adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go and Lane Centring, plus Rear Cross Traffic Alert).
