Polestar reveals roadster concept as base for new Polestar 6
Swedish electric performance brand Polestar has announced that the concept model revealed in Los Angeles in March earlier this year as the Polestar O2 will go into full-production as the Polestar 6.
A few details are already confirmed for the forthcoming 6, with an all-electric 800V system allowing both high-power output and ultra-fast charging.
Twin electric motors will combine to produce 650 kW (884 hp), with a 0-62mph time of 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 155mph.
Polestar is aiming to give the convertible hard-top 2+2 sportscar a range of 370+ miles, and with the 800V system on-board, it should add more than 300 miles of range on the fastest chargers in around 20 minutes.
Sustainability has become a focus for Volvo's performance off-shoot, with a ‘made to be remade' ethos, with clearly defined aluminium recycling plans, single materials able to be used to build a variety of components, and natural fibres sourced to create the upholstery and panels.
The Polestar 6 becomes the latest model announced as part of plans to expand the brand's range over the coming years. It will follow the Polestar 3 SUV due later this year, Polestar 4 expected next year, and Polestar 5 planned for 2025. The Polestar 6 is scheduled for launch in 2026, though reservations for build slots for the roadster are open now.
