New Porsche Panamera E-Hybrid revealed

The rules for making a luxury saloon are relatively simple. It needs to look refined and elegant, be equipped to the highest specification, and it needs lots of power. You could possibly add the requirement to be a bit German to that list as well. It’s a straightforward formula really, and it leads directly to the pinnacle upon which the new Porsche Panamera E-Hybrid range sits.

Porsche has recently announced the expansion of its Panamera model range with the new 4 E-Hybrid and 4S E-Hybrid variants joining the line-up.

Gone are the days of the ugly-duckling 911 on stilts. The new Porsche Panamera range boasts an athletic and fresh design, strikingly modern and well-equipped interiors, and it won’t come as a surprise to find they’re stunningly powerful too. If you’re on the hunt for a premium sports saloon and you haven’t considered leasing a Porsche Panamera you should probably rethink your options.

In terms of looks, the Panamera features newly shaped LED headlights and horizontal air intake at the front while the rear gets a continuous taillight and frameless rear window.

Standard equipment on the new Panamera 4 E-Hybrid includes 19-inch wheels, black brake callipers and matrix LED headlights. The innovative high-resolution HD matrix LED lighting system is also available as an option. The Panamera 4S E-Hybrid gets larger 20-inch wheels, sports tailpipes, and red brake callipers. You can also specify green or black callipers if you don’t want the red ones, or alternatively you can upgrade to 21-inch alloys and ceramic composite brakes.



The interior of the new Panamera models is sufficiently premium too, with standard equipment now including ParkAssist and a cooled smartphone tray for wireless charging with up to 15 watts. You also get to choose from an options list that boasts rear-axle steering, remote parking assist, Porsche InnoDrive including active lane keeping, passenger display, and air quality system.

All of the above is further complemented by the healthy chunk of power the Porsche Panamera E-Hybrid system brings to the table.

In the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid, Porsche has combined its hybrid system with a significantly revamped 2.9-litre V6 bi-turbo petrol engine. The engine alone produces around 300bhp, with the hybrid part further boosting that power to around 470bhp in total. In layman’s terms, that means hitting 60mph in just 4 seconds and a top speed in excess of 170mph. It also means an electric-only range of 50 miles, fuel consumption figures of up to 200mpg, and ridiculously low CO2 emissions of around 30g/km for a car that boasts this much power.

The Panamera 4S E-Hybrid is even more impressive with a stronger focus on driving dynamics.

Its 2.9-litre bi-turbo six-cylinder engine delivers even more power – 350bhp to be precise – taking the overall output to around 540bhp when you add the electric motor. That drops the acceleration time to 3.7 seconds and increases the top speed to a definitely-illegal-on-public-roads 180mph. And it does all of that without significantly affecting fuel consumption, emissions, or electric-only range.

Compared to the previous generation, all Panamera E-Hybrid models now offer a greater electric range, faster charging speed, better throttle response and better driving performance.

The new high voltage battery stores around 45% more electricity in a comparably sized space, while the new 11 kW on-board charger shortens the charging time to two hours and 39 minutes. The four optimised E-Hybrid-specific driving modes, as well as the improved Sport and Sport Plus modes, further optimise the efficiency of the new Panamera E-Hybrid models.

The Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid and the Panamera 4S E-Hybrid are now available to order with deliveries due to start in this second quarter of 2024. If you are in the market for a luxury saloon, there’s absolutely no reason why you shouldn’t consider leasing one for yourself.
