New Skoda Kodiaq iV PHEV offers long range and low tax
The new Skoda Kodiaq iV PHEV, featuring the brand’s second-generation plug-in hybrid technology, is now available.
The new model features a plug-in option for the first time and can cover 75 miles in electric-only mode, reaching a key milestone for low company car tax.
Company car drivers pay tax on a proportion of the value of their vehicles, which for hybrids is partly based on how far they can travel in electric-only mode. The Skoda’s range means it falls into the 70-129 miles band, so drivers’ taxable benefits are based on just 5% of the car’s value.
This means an annual tax bill of around £400 for the base model for a 20% taxpayer, or £800 for a 40% taxpayer, a fraction of what drivers will pay in a pure diesel or petrol car.
The plug-in SUV combines a four-cylinder turbocharged 1.5 TSI 150PS engine with an electric motor offering 116PS, driven by a 25.7kWh battery pack.
Power is delivered through a six-speed DSG gearbox with three hybrid driving modes – electric-only, hybrid, and sport.
It can charge at a peak of 50kW, meaning the battery can be filled from 10-80% in less than half an hour.
When leasing the new Skoda Kodiaq iV, there are two trim levels to choose from: SE and SE L.
The SE features 18-inch alloy wheels, LED front and rear lights, heated front seats and keyless start/stop, along with digital screens for infotainment and instrument cluster.
The SE L adds 19-inch alloy wheels, LED Matrix adaptive headlights, electrically adjustable driver’s seat with memory function and an electrically operated boot.
