The founder of the Toyota Motor Corporation, a Japanese multinational automotive manufacturer, was Kiichiro Toyoda who was the son of a textile manufacturer, Sakichi Toyoda who found international success in the production of Japan's first automatically powered weaving loom. After his father sold the loom's patented technology to the Platt brothers of Oldham, UK in 1929, he was able to use the funds to establish an automotive division of the company in 1933 creating the first Toyoda Model A1 in 1935. The company took its current name in 1937 and during WWII supplied the Japanese military with cars and trucks but after the war, they implemented a highly efficient automated production method which enabled production to rise to 3,000 cars per month - and by the end of 1956 5,000 cars per month of the Toyopet Crown - the first entirely made Japanese-made passenger car that used independent front suspension. The simple overlapping hales in the logo of Toyota not only form a 'T' but represent the world embracing Toyota. The company chose the logo to represent its values of excellent quality, reliability, environmental concern and innovative techniques.
